Ringing in Two Thousand Zen

It’s been a month and half of learning and traveling for me. Here is the round up:

– I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Instructor Certification at Yoga to the People, and have begun teaching in NY, NJ, Kentucky and Virginia. I’m continuing my studies, auditing classes by and conversing with experienced yoga teacher German Bravo.

– I attended a week long folk dance camp in Berea, KY called Christmas Country Dance School. In addition to be able to teach a few yoga classes, I learned contra dancing, harmonica and the minuet. I observed clogging, mummer’s play, morris dancing, abbots bromley, long sword and rapper sword performances, sparking lots of ideas about fusing these art forms with theatrical performance.

– I completed auditions (with great success!) and am about to begin rehearsals on a new play at Fordham University. Poor Ellen Smith is a heartbreaking Appalachian love story, written by talented Fordham undergrad Ariadne Blayde. Details on tickets coming soon!

New Year’s was spent joyously dancing in 2010, from dusk til dawn! It was a great two weeks of traveling, but I’m happy to back in Brooklyn. I hope you all are having a fantastic start to the new year.
