Teaching Artist

As a teaching artist, Lauren works with the Public Theatre’s Shakespeare Initiative, as well as on the staff of New York Film Academy, Brooklyn Academy of Music and The McCarter Theater in Princeton, New Jersey.  She teaches a wide range of ages, from elementary school aged students up through adults.  With New York Film Academy, Lauren teaches Acting Technique, Text Analysis and Directing Actors.  With The Public and BAM, she teaches Shakespeare and ensemble building to middle and high school students, as well as bringing workshops to shelters, after-school programs and prisons in the five boroughs of New York City.   Through the Public Theater’s Outreach Tours, Lauren has worked with the populations at Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, Bayview Correctional Facility, The Fortune Society, JSPOA, Susan’s Place, The Ali Forney Center and The Von King Community Center, among others.  She has guest taught Shakespeare and character study with Shakespeare & Company’s High School Program in Lenox, MA and with The Anderson School (PS 334) in Manhattan.  She has taught Creating Original Work and Dramaturgy at The University of New Mexico, BFA Theatre Department.  With the Hangar Theatre Next Gen Summer Camp, she taught Character Creation, Theatre Games and Directing.  She recently directed The Metamorphoses for The McCarter Theater’s Young Actors’ Studio.

Lauren seeks to empower her students to make bold choices and take risks, within the security of a safe environment.
